Last year, it was announced that Injustice: Gods Among Us, the successful DC Comics video game, was officially getting a sequel dubbed as Injustice 2. There have been brief updates here and there throughout the fall with character reveals, gameplay and more. However, no official release date for the game had been set until today. Ed Boon, who is the creative director of NetherRealm Studios, announced today on his social media that the game is officially coming out on May 16 as he tweeted out the following image.

Back when the game was announced, Boon spoke about his excitement for the sequel and what the team behind it, are hoping to achieve with this installment.
“In Injustice 2, we are introducing new features that will change the way fans play fighting games. We’re always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap.”
Some of the new characters that have been announced so far are: Kara Zor-El a.k.a. Supergirl, Jaime Reyes a.k.a. Blue Beetle, Floyd Lawton a.k.a. Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd and Atrocitus.
