Last summer Jurassic World was a box office juggernaut bringing in over $650 million domestically. With such sucess around the world, it came as a no surprise that a Jurassic World 2 was coming. The sequel will be helmed by J.A. Bayona. Bayona is known for his work on The Orphanage and the upcoming A Monster Calls.
Former director Colin Trevorrow announced the news on Twitter, offically passing the World baton to Bayona.
Proud to collaborate with one of my favorite filmmakers on the next Jurassic adventure. JA Bayona, it’s all yours.

While Trevorrow is busy working on the upcoming Star Wars Episode 9, he isn’t leaving World behind completely. Trevorrow and Derek Connolly are reportedly returning to write the sequel, which will feature the return of both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Jurassic World 2 opens in theaters on June 22, 2018.
