J.J. Abrams Clarifies: Rey & Kylo Ren Haven’t Met Prior To ‘The Force Awakens’

When Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrived in theaters almost one year ago, fans instantly started circulating theories about our new main characters, Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren. Many of the theories focused on Rey’s backstory and a possible connection with Kylo Ren and/or Han Solo. Upon the release of The Force Awakens on Blu-Ray, director J.J. Abrams explains that before this film, these two characters hadn’t met.

“One of the new relationships that we were focusing on was between Kylo Ren and Rey. They’ve never met but he’s heard of this girl.”

It’s possible that some of these theories could be proven true when Star Wars: Episode VIII arrives in theaters next year.

This new Blu-Ray will come equipped with the theatrical release on 3D Blu-Ray, 2D Blu-Ray, DVD, and Digital HD. Along with the new bonus material, this collector’s edition will come in a new packaging with a new cover depicting one of the film’s most iconic moments: the final lightsaber duel on Starkiller Base.

Next up in the Star Wars lineup is Gareth Edward’s anthology film, Rogue One. The film stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, and Jonathan Aris. Fans will soon be able to decide what their thoughts on the film are when Rogue One arrives in theaters on December 16th.

Starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran and Benicio del Toro, Star Wars: Episode VIII opens in theaters on December 15, 2017.
