Production on Shane Black’s The Predator is set to begin next month, so the already impressive cast of the reboot/sequel keeps on growing. The latest addition to the project is none other than Room star Jacob Tremblay, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Per THR, Tremblay has been cast as the son of Boyd Holbrook’s lead character, who’s an ex-marine. The trade reveals that the son is autistic, but his “preternatural ability to learn languages” will make him “a key player” in the fight against the Predators.
The cast also includes Olivia Munn as a scientist and Trevante Rhodes as another ex-marine, along with Keegan-Michael Key and Sterling K. Brown as two other characters who join the fight. As we recently found out, Thomas Jane is also close to signing on for the project in an undisclosed role.
As previously reported, The Predator will be sequel to the 1987 John McTiernan-directed classic and set in present day. There’s been no official word on whether or not Arnold Schwarzenegger will reprise his role as Dutch, but the actor has mentioned that he was planning to have lunch with Black to discuss the possibility of returning.
The Predator opens in theaters on February 9, 2018.
