‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Sequel: The Internet Reacts To Jake Gyllenhaal As Mysterio

Jake Gyllenhaal Mysterio Spider-Man MarvelIt was recently reported that Jake Gyllenhaal is in talks to portray the supervillain Mysterio in the follow-up to Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is set to begin production this summer. Plot details on the film are still being kept under wraps, though Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has indicated that the film will take place after the events of the fourth Avengers film.

As is often the case with either rumored or confirmed casting, particularly for comic book adaptations, the internet has a way of letting you know how it feels about character castings, and the case of Jake Gyllenhaal as Mysterio is no different, as you can tell by some of the tweets below. Have a look.

It’s worth noting that at one point, Sony was developing a Spider-Man spin-off that would focus on Mysterio, as well as Kraven the Hunter. Whether that ends up still being the case or is at all related to this potential casting remains to be seen, but stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more information. In the meantime, before Peter Parker potentially takes on Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio and the returning Vulture, be sure to see him suit up and fight alongside the Avengers in Avengers: Infinity War.

The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel hits theaters on July 5, 2019. Make sure to keep an eye on Heroic Hollywood as more details on this project come out.
