James Cameron Praises ‘Terminator Genisys’ As A True Terminator Sequel.

With the highly anticipated Terminator: Genisys heading into theatres next month, James Cameron, director and co-writer of the first two Terminator flicks starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (who has always loathed the last two installments in the terminator franchise) has called Terminator: Genisys the official third installment in the terminator franchise.

Cameron has gone on record stating that he’s not that fond of T3, and T4. During an AMA last year on reddit Cameron wrote

I’m not big fans of the films, I think that they had the big ideas of the first movies. I didn’t make the second film until I had an idea as big as the first film, and it had to do with the moral complexity of the story, and asking the audience by the end of the film to cry for a Terminator. I don’t think that the third or fourth film lived up to that potential… I’m hopeful that the new films, which are being made right now as a reboot, but still involving Arnold, will be good. From what I’ve seen from afar, it looks like they will be quite good.

Recently Cameron got to view a screening of the latest take on the franchise Terminator: Genisys.  Here’s what Cameron had to say about the film

It’s being very respectful of the first two films, and then all of a sudden it swerves and now I’m going on a journey.

I haven’t seen seen Terminator Genisys yet, but these words are quite encouraging. Given the fact that I disliked the two previous films, Cameron’s words make me pretty excited to see Genisys!
