James Gunn took to Facebook to celebrate the two-year anniversary of Guardians of the Galaxy being released. The Marvel property was mostly unknown at the time when the trailer was released that featured a talking/walking tree and a raccoon with a machine gun.
Gunn thanked fans for making his journey with this property such an amazing experience.
“It’s the Two Year Anniversary of Guardians of the Galaxy. Guardians opened in the U.S. on August 1st 2014, and my life changed immediately. It’s been wonderful and turbulent, exhausting and enriching, edifying and fun. Thanks to all of you who have made my journey a rich experience.”
Gunn is currently at work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which was featured in the Marvel presentation in Hall H during San Diego Comic-Con. Everyone in Hall H was able to see the new footage and trailer. As for when the trailer might be shown to the larger public, Feige indicated that it would mostly likely be in front of the next Marvel property, that being Doctor Strange.
After the incredible success of its predecessor, James Gunn returns to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Pom Klementieff, Karen Gillan, Sean Gunn, Glenn Close, Elizabeth Debicki and Kurt Russell.
Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
