James Gunn Shares Old Drax Photo From ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’

Marvel GuardiansIn a recent Instagram post, Guardians of Galaxy director James Gunn shared a behind the scenes photo featuring Drax from the 2014 film on his personal account.

The image in question shows Drax, (Dave Bautista), being outfitted for a space suite with blue screens, cameras, and set workers all around him. In addition, the suite had a convenient modification according to the director:

“Drax the Destroyer is outfitted with his space suit, made conveniently not to chafe his nipples. From #GotG Vol. 1. #behindthescenes #marvel #guardiansofthegalaxy #davebautista @davebautista”

The picture in question was part of the preparation for one of Guardians of the Galaxy’s numerous jokes. After Star Lord, (Chris Pratt), and Gamora, (Zoe Saldana) are captured by the Ravagers, Rocket, (Bradly Cooper) and Drax attempt a daring rescue, not knowing that the two had already cut a deal with Star Lord’s former associates. After fitting a gun to the top of Star Lord’s ship, Drax gets into a space suit and mans the gun. The two then blast the Ravagers’ ship with said gun with minimal effect.

The gun was later used to much greater effect at the films climax. When the Guardians went face to face with the film’s antagonist, Ronan, (Lee Pace), Rocket quickly reassembled the gun from nearby wreckage and blasted his hammer, which contained the Power Infinity Stone and stripped away his biggest advantage in any fight. The villain was then quickly dispatched.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 are both available on DVD, Blu-Ray, and digital download. Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 is currently in development.
