Jeremy Irons Talks Playing Alfred Pennyworth In ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’

This March, Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice will not only introduce us to an all new incarnation of the Caped Crusader, but to a brand new version of his loyal butler, Alfred Pennyworth, as well. The character will be portrayed by veteran actor Jeremy Irons, and while Michael Caine set a very bar with his performance in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, it seems that Iron’s take on Alfred will be just as memorable, but a lot more “hands-on.”

For those of you who aren’t in the loop, the latest issue of Empire Magazine includes a lot of great interviews and some new information about the DC Extended Universe. However, their interview with Irons doesn’t reveal an awful lot of details about his role in the movie, but the actor did discuss playing the fan-favorite character. Here’s what he had to say:

Alfred has lived longer than Bruce, and so perhaps has a clearer perspective on life, as well as having been in loco parentis to Bruce, his only remit in life is to protect him. And, as those of us who have raised children, let alone Batmen, will know, that is quite a wide remit.

What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to seeing Irons as Alfred in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice? Sound-off your thoughts in the comment section below.
