‘Jessica Jones’ & ‘Luke Cage’ Now In HDR On Netflix

Luke Cage Jessica JonesAfter Daredevil season one and two had received the HDR treatment on Netflix, the rest of Marvel’s offerings were announced to do the same. Jessica Jones and Luke Cage can now be watched and enjoyed in full HDR, so long as you can support it.

For those who don’t know, HDR is simply another way of saying 4K but with deeper colors. Blacks and shadows are richer, while colors have more of a pop to them. Marvel’s Netflix shows are all beautifully shot, so getting to witness them in HDR is perfection. To view the shows in HDR however, you need to have an HDR television or monitor. The resolution of your monitor, as well as the strength of your wifi connection, will both dictate your HDR viewing possibilities. If you have a 2k screen or above, but don’t have a strong enough internet connection, you’ll still be out of luck.

Netflix has even released a video explaining what HDR is on their YouTube channel featuring footage from Marvel’s series– including Iron Fist.

It is unclear whether Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher will be initially released in HDR or ported over at a later date like Jessica Jones and Luke Cage.
