Jiang Wen Reportedly Cast in ‘Star Wars Rogue One’

In a report from Yahoo Singapore Chinese actor Jiang Wen is reportedly set to appear in next year’s Star Wars: Rogue One. The Gareth Edwards helmed project was reportedly searching for Chinese talent for the film. If this rumor is true then Jiang Wen would be one of those reported Chinese Talent that they have been searching for. There has been no official word from Disney, so it is still being treated as a rumor at this time.

Jiang Wen is an unfamiliar face for Western audiences, but has had some success internationally in both acting and directing. He is most notable for directing the films Let the Bullets Fly and Gone With the Bullets and for having a notable role in the film Red Sorghum.

Over the past few years Hollywood has been casting some Chinese talent in their films, but their roles have been minor side roles. Maybe if this rumor is true Star Wars: Rogue One can help to change this.

The film is currently under production and set with a release sometime in the later half of 2016.

What do you think of this? Are you excited of the possibility of Jiang Wen being in this film? Would you like more Chinese representation in Hollywood? Sound off in the comments.
