Even with DC’s Cinematic Universe beginning to come together, it’s hard to forget the achievements of the television universe. With Legends of Tomorrow DC will continue the crossover event that began with The Flash and Arrow, and the universe continues to expand with additional characters, and the universe is growing bigger with the addition of Gremlins director Joe Dante, who’s set to write an upcoming episode.
In a tweet from Marc Guggenheim, and later confirmed from Dante’s official twitter, it was unveiled that Dante will helm episode eight of season one, titled “Night of the Hawk”. The episode is written by Sarah Nicole Jones and Cortney Norris. Few details regarding the plot have been unveiled, but it’s assumed that it could focus on the Hawkgirl character.
It’s great to see that DC is pursuing directors with the credentials of Joe Dante, and his experience in the past surely prepares him for anything in the comic book universe. Dante know how to handle the drama, comedy, and action, as seen in such classics as Gremlins and The ‘Burbs, and it’s nice to know that the doors are open to more cinematic filmmakers to join the DC television universe. With television series becoming more cinematic, it’s great to know that Legends of Tomorrow is helping to bridge the gap between film and television.
No word has been given on when the episode will debut, but the Legends of Tomorrow season one pilot will premiere on January 21st, 2016.
