In 2016, the DC Extended Universe had one of the best (financial) years for a popular film franchise. With two movies released, both movies made over $300 million (each) in the United States alone. So, with Wonder Woman and Justice League hitting theatres this year, it only makes sense that the universe builds and expands. Some of the world’s most talented actors and actresses have joined the series, including: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Patrick Wilson and Billy Crudup. However, could we see a living legend join the ranks of the DCEU?

Late last year, it was rumoured that John Cleese had joined a future DCEU film. There was no real source, other than the fact that Cleese’s official Twitter account suddenly followed Clay Enos and Geoff Johns. Cleese, who is best known for his work in Monty Python and Faulty Towers has always been more of a comedic actor, so this casting would come as quite the surprise. However, we may have confirmed Cleese’s involvement thanks to a Tweet on his official Twitter.

Cleese wrote:

“Getting into character before tonight’s Q&A in Worcester, MA”

Before tweeting an image with some familiar comic books on the right hand side. You can check it out below:

For those of you with the eyes of a hawk, you can clearly see that Justice League: OriginThe Dark Knight Returns and Batman: The Dark Mirror are all on Cleese’s desk. Now, of course this could mean anything… But, could it really? In all fairness to John Cleese, he doesn’t exactly strike me as someone who would read these books for the fun of it. There is most likely something to this, so keep close tabs on Heroic Hollywood for any updates in the near future.

That being said, what DCEU movie do you think Cleese is prepping for? Two of the three books there are Batman stories, but there is Justice League: Origin. Honestly, I think we will just have to wait and see! How do you guys feel about Cleese (potentially) joining the DCEU?

Justice League hits theatres everywhere on November 17, 2017.

Just a young writer hoping to become an old writer. From the land Down Under; no, I don't know Jai Courtney.

    It’s Fawlty Towers, not “Faulty”

Could easily see him as Wintergreen but then again Wintergreen doesn’t have anything to do with those stories.

Yeah, He’d make an awesome Wintergreen. Nice catch. Guess we’ll have to see, but this is a great addition on DC’s part.

Actually, now that I think about it, it could very well be Wintergreen, as those are Batman books, & we know Deathstroke will appear in the Batman solo.
