A new piece of fan art for Robert Pattinson’s The Batman universe shows Johnny Depp taking on the role of The Joker.

There’s still over a year to go until Robert Pattinson swoops onto the big screen as the next Bruce Wayne for The Batman, but rumors have swirled for a long time that director Matt Reeves wants to introduce a new version of the Joker in a future sequel to his DC Films project. One actor fans frequently fantasize about seeing as the iconic Clown Prince of Crime is former Fantastic Beasts and Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny Depp.

This fan art from Instagram user ‘mizuriau’ imagines Johnny Depp stepping into the Joker role to go head-to-head with Robert Pattinson in a sequel to The Batman. The artwork uses a shot from the recent Fantastic Beasts sequel where Depp’s villainous Gellert Grindelwald addresses the wizarding community. The actor certainly looks the part, and it would definitely be interesting to see how Reeves would adapt the villain for his grim vision of Gotham City. You can see the concept design below.

What do you think of the artwork? How do you think Johnny Depp play the Joker? Are you excited to see Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight when the film eventually arrives in theaters? Sound-off in the comments!

The plot of The Batman is being kept under wraps, but we know the film will follow Robert Pattinson as a younger version of Bruce Wayne, chronicling Batman during his second year as the Dark Knight of Gotham City. The Batman will also show off the hero using his skills as a detective more than what we’ve seen before in previous versions of the hero. It is also expected to be the first installment in a new trilogy of films with Pattinson.

Directed by Matt Reeves, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the titular hero, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Reál, with Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin.

The Batman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on March 4, 2022. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Johnny Depp, Joker, Robert Pattinson and the DC Films project, and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more video content.
