Jon Watts Reveals Spider-Man’s Age In The MCU; Talks Origin Story

Not too many details are currently know about the MCU’s Spider-Man but one thing we do know for certain is that when it comes time for his solo film, we’re definitely going to be skipping the origin story this time around. Director Jon Watts had the following to say about that while chatting with Empire (via Yahoo):

There are only so many times you can kill Uncle Ben. I love the idea of making a coming-of-age high-school movie.

We’re really going to see Peter Parker in high school and get deeper into that side of it. He’s just 15 now.

Watts also had the following to say about actor Tom Holland playing the role:

Tom was pretty perfect. He’s very athletic. He can actually do a backflip! If he didn’t already capture the spirit of the character, with that on top the kid is Spider-Man.

Spider-Man joins the MCU when Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6, 2016 before getting his own solo film in summer of 2017.
