Director Jon Watts In Talks To Return For ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ Sequel

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Spider-Man: Homecoming helmer Jon Watts is in talks to return to the director’s chair for the film’s sequel, which is set for release in summer 2019.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige and producer Amy Pascal had previously said that the intention was to bring back Watts for the second installment, which picks up right after the events of the yet-to-be titled fourth Avengers movie.

Homecoming, the first Spider-Man movie set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, hit theaters earlier this month and has so far grossed more than $450 million at the worldwide box office.

Spider-Man star Tom Holland is already on board to for the sequel. His character is also making an appearance in next year’s Marvel mega-event, Avengers: Infinity War.

The Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel arives on July 5, 2019.
