Are you ready to go back to the park? Jurassic World 2 is set to start filming next year and is returning to Hawaii for production. Filming is set to start in February 2017 and will be using the name, “Ancient Futures.”
Hawaii has been an extremely popular backdrop for the Jurassic Park franchise. The Hawaiian islands are used to replicate Isla Nublar, a fictional island. It has been noted that this will not be the only location that will be using throughout filming. The cast and crew are also set to go to London.
Last summer Jurassic World was a box office juggernaut bringing in over $650 million domestically. The sequel will be helmed by J.A. Bayona. Bayona is known for his work on The Orphanage and the upcoming A Monster Calls. Bayona is replacing Colin Trevorrow who directed World.
While Trevorrow is busy working on the upcoming Star Wars Episode 9, he isn’t leaving World behind completely. Trevorrow and Derek Connolly are reportedly returning to write the sequel, which will feature the return of both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard.
Jurassic World 2 opens in theaters on June 22, 2018.
