‘Jurassic World 2’: Jeff Goldblum Confirms Ian Malcolm’s Role Is Small

jurassic park jurassic world ian malcolm jeff goldblumThe plot to next year’s Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom series still remains a secret but we do know that actor Jeff Goldblum will be returning alongside the cast of the previous film as one of the franchise’s most beloved characters, Ian Malcolm.

The actor has remained coy in regards to what Malcolm has been up to since The Lost World: Jurassic Park and still remains tight-lipped in regards to the capacity of his role but earlier today while featured on Empire’s podcast, Goldblum revealed that his character’s role in the upcoming film may not be as large as most would have hoped for:

“It’s small… who knows, they may cut me out entirely! But if I stay in I’ll be a sprig of parsley or a little garnish, hopefully with some impact!”

Of course, the actor divulges into the answer in typical Goldblum fashion with a bit of wit and humor. While Goldblum was obviously joking in regards to his character being cut from the film it will be interesting to see the scope of the role that Malcolm will be playing in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Perhaps something akin to a mentoring role to Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) similar to Han Solo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi?

The sequel has added Toby Jones, Rafe Spall, Justice Smith, Ted Levine, Daniella Pineda, Geraldine Chaplin and James Cromwell into the mix. Jeff Goldblum who played the self-professed “chaotician” Dr. Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park will also be returning for the sequel and BD Wong will once again appear as Dr. Henry Wu.

The film has been directed by  J.A. Bayona (A Monster Calls) with executive producers Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow and Thomas Tull. Trevorrow also co-wrote the script with his writing partner Derek Connolly. Frank Marshall, Pat Crowley, and Belén Atienza are producing.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is slated to hit theaters on June 22, 2018. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the Jurassic World sequel as we learn it.

Well that’s a little disappointing… But I guess it’s for the best, we do not want this movie to be a fan-service mess.
