While Batman v Superman may have one of the most divisive superhero films of all-time, Ben Affleck’s performance as Bruce Wayne / Batman was generally well-received with a large number of fans now considering his portrayal of the Dark Knight to be the greatest depiction of the character to date. Now, the Caped Crusader will return when Justice League hits theaters this week and Affleck recently explained he decided to accept the role of the DC Comics’ hero during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.
Affleck revealed that while wearing the suit may have been uncomfortable at times, he ultimately accepted the role of Batman for his son:
“Literally, the reason I took this movie was imagining that, like, you know… wearing that costume and having my son see me. You know? Everybody wants their kid to think of them as a superhero. You know, before they get too smart.”

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds.
