Next month’s Justice League is set to pick up where last year’s Batman v Superman left off, as Bruce Wayne and Diana Prince, inspired by Superman’s sacrifice, embark on a mission to unite the world’s superheroes against the forces of Steppenwolf. One piece of continuity fans may not have been expecting to see in Justice League, though, was the armoured Batsuit worn by Batman in his climactic fight with the Man of Steel. However, Empire has just confirmed we will be seeing the Dark Knight’s armour return, though perhaps not in the way you would expect.
Discussing their tour of Justice League‘s Batcave, Empire revealed:
“We’re in the Batcave – or part of the Batcave – and everything’s suitably bleak and rocky. The specially modified Batsuit that was Batbattered by Superman towards the end of Dawn of Justice is on display, a permanent reminder to Bruce Wayne of the dangers of hubris”
It sounds as though we won’t be seeing Ben Affleck’s Batman don his armoured Batsuit again, but rather that he has kept it on display in the Batcave. The suit is apparently serving as a memento of his clash with Superman and a reminder of the mistake he made in distrusting the hero in whose footsteps he is now following.
This little throwback in Justice League won’t be the first time we’ve seen souvenirs of Batman’s past in the Batcave. In Batman v Superman we saw Robin’s vandalised costume (presumably from his fatal encounter with the Joker). Throughout the comics we have also seen the Batcave house a giant playing card from the Joker, a mechanical dinosaur, and the giant penny that first featured in World’s Finest #30, way back in 1947.
Are you glad to see Batman’s trophy-keeping tradition being upheld in Justice League? Excited to see how the Batman v Superman Batsuit will fit into the film’s events? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds.
Justice League will be released in theaters on November 17, 2017.
6 Times The Justice League Came Up Short
The Justice League is comprised of the best and brightest heroes the DC Universe has to offer. When you’ve got Wonder Woman, Superman and Batman all on one team, it’s a hard combination to beat. Despite their combined strength, the Justice League has been taken down quite a few times in their long history.
Over the years, the League has faced all kinds of threats, ranging from a grief-stricken Black Adam on a rampage to an invasion of White Martians. Usually the Justice Leauge is able to overcome these threats, but sometimes they don’t have what it takes to stop evil. Of course, these are comic books and things usually shift back towards the light side in time, but that doesn’t mean darkness can’t win, at least temporarily.
Since Justice League finally hits theaters in November, now seems like as good a time as any to talk about a few times the team has fallen short. With that said, hit Next to learn more about six times the Justice League lost!
