‘Justice League Dark’ & ‘Batgirl’ Might Be Next DC Films Produced

Batgirl Justice League DarkThere are several films in different development stages over at Warner Bros. when it comes to their DC Films division. As Wonder Woman just came out last week, we have Justice League arriving on November 17 and then Aquaman for Christmas of 2018. But after that, it remains to be seen what movie that we will get next from DC Films.

Two of the DC Films that are being developed are Justice League Dark as well as Joss Whedon’s Batgirl movie. While neither of them have any release dates set, it looks like they might be the next DC Films that will go into production.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio have supposedly been focusing on getting Justice League Dark and Batgirl ready so they can start production in the near future. While Justice League Dark did recently lose its director, with Doug Liman having to step down due to schedule issues, Damián Szifron (Wild Tales) and Andy Muschietti (the upcoming IT film) are reportedly being eyed to take over for him.

Should this be true, then we should most likely be getting casting news for both films as well as a new director for Justice League Dark soon. With San Diego Comic-Con happening next month, hopefully we will have more details on what’s coming up for DC Films after 2018.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ezra Miller as  Barry Allen/The Flash, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Amber Heard as Mera, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielson as Queen Hippolyta and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon, hits theaters on Friday, November 17.

James Wan’s Aquaman, which stars Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry a.k.a. Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko and Patrick Wilson as Orm a.k.a. Ocean Master, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Dolph Lundgren as King Nereus, Ludi Lin as Murk, with Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna and Temuera Morrison as Arthur’s father, is set to come out in theaters on December 21, 2018. The screenplay comes from Will Beall, with story by Wan and DC Films co-head Geoff Johns.

6 Reasons Why ‘Justice League’ Could Be Better Than ‘Avengers’

Previous1 of 7

Justice League
The DC Cinematic Universe needs a win and Geoff Johns and Zack Snyder have their fingers crossed Wonder Woman and Justice League will give things a boost. Aquaman keeps adding members to the cast and is set to start shooting soon while Flash has already lost two directors, meaning there’s a lot riding on WB’s next two big DC movies to secure a future for their cinematic plans.

There’s a lot to look forward to in Justice League and quite a few reasons to believe it could match or surpass The Avengers. WB is introducing most of their supporting characters for the first time in Justice League opposed to how Marvel had already introduced every member of the team by the time they came together for The Avengers. That means we have a lot to watch for as we meet a lot of characters on the big-screen for the first time.

Hit Next to find out why Justice League might be better than The Avengers.

So not MOS 2, not Ben AFfleck’s Batman, not Green Lantern. Batgirl and Justice League Dark….WHY?

I think those are already in development (not GL)

Do you think there might be another DC movie coming before Aquaman?

    • Maxi Iroh

GCS could’ve been the one, but Ayer is still working on Bright, so no.

I understand Batgirl being ahead of most of these movies but JLD too, we have The Batman and GCS that will definitely start production next year, plus the Flash, MoS2 and SS2 could follow suit.

Maybe it has something to do with size of the movie, Batgirl and JLD are rumored to be smaller films.

I’m thinking a Man of Steel 2 release date might be announced at Comic-Con this summer.
