‘Justice League’ Outselling ‘Wonder Woman’ For Its Opening Weekend

Justice League Wonder Woman Gal Gadot DCWonder Woman surpassed expectations earlier this year with a domestic opening weekend of $103 million, and now it looks like DC will top themselves this weekend with the release of Justice League.

According to Fandango, Justice League is selling more tickets now compared to Wonder Woman  during the same point in its sales cycle. Early box office tracking projects that the superhero ensemble will have an opening around $110 to $120 million, but that number could easily change given a number of circumstances which includes critic reviews and word of mouth.

Justice League also scored a staggering 97 out of 100 on Fandango’s Fanticipation movie buzz index. Fandango calculates Fanticipation using an algorithm that considers ticket sales, website and mobile traffic and social media interaction to calculate a score on the 100-point scale.

Fandango conducted a survey of over 1,000 moviegoers who plan on going to see Justice League.  The survey revealed that 89% of them are fans of DC Entertainment, 84% saw Wonder Woman in theaters earlier this year, 80% are excited about Justice League having a lighter tone and 69% are already fans of Jason Momoa from his role as Khal Drogo Game of Thrones.

This survey also revealed that even though Batman and Superman are considered the most popular heroes in the DC universe, these fans are most looking forward to seeing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Jason Momoa as Aquaman in the new film.

Time will tell how well Justice League performs at the box office this weekend, but if these numbers are anything to by, then plenty of moviegoers are willing to go out and pay to see these DC heroes finally come together.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League hits theaters on November 17, 2017.
