The release of Justice League is right around the corner, and a new video has arrived to wet the appetites of DC fans. AT&T released a “first look” today which featured Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince, otherwise known as Wonder Woman. With the Wonder Woman solo film pleasing the majority of fans and critics alike earlier this year, DC and Warner Bros. have wisely put this character at the front and center of their marketing campaign.
The clip doesn’t reveal any new plot points, but serves as a refresher of sorts to remind everyone where Diana comes from and what type of role she will play in the film. While it’s clear that Batman is the tactician of the newly formed group, Wonder Woman is very much the emotional leader. As Gadot says in the voiceover, “She’s this glue to the team. She makes each and every one of them feel stronger and capable.”
You can watch the video below.
The film stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds. Here’s the official synopsis:
“Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”
Now that the origin story is out of the way, fans can look forward to seeing how Wonder Woman interacts with and differs from the other DC heroes, including Batman, Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg. Justice League arrives in theaters on November 17.
The Top 10 Episodes Of ‘Justice League’
Wonder Woman is breaking record after record, and everyone loves it! Twitter erupted with praise for the first-ever female led super hero film. This praise bodes well for the future of the once murky DC Extended Universe. But with Wonder Woman being this successful, it means that the next film in DC’s slate has even more work cut out for it. Justice League will be the ultimate test of whether the DCEU can truly handle an ensemble super hero cast.
It’s always difficult to juggle a couple of heroes on screen, let alone six or seven. Hopefully director Zack Snyder did his research in determining how to get the formula right. Assuming he did, he almost certainly watched Cartoon Network’s Justice League. As the final series in Bruce Timm’s DC Animated Universe, Justice League brought together Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern and Hawkgirl for the first time on screen. The series was bold, dramatic and inventive. It placed character first, often only focusing on only 3 or 4 heroes per episode in order to give them maximum character weight.
The formula worked amazingly, giving us some of the greatest storytelling ever seen in television animation. It also led to acclaimed spin-off Justice League Unlimited, which added dozens of heroes to the roster. The spin-off series was much more serialized, improving the storytelling but losing some of the great character focus. That’s why it’s the original Justice League series that provides the best example of how to tell a story with seven DC characters. It’s the example we hope Zack Snyder looked to for inspiration.
