‘Justice League’ Cast On The New Tone, Topping ‘Avengers’, & Large Scale

Justice League DC Comic-ConJustice League will arrive in theaters next month and fans are curious to see how the first live-action feature film team-up of DC Comics’ iconic heroes will unfold. In a series of on-set interviews with Empire Magazine, the cast of Justice League discussed the lighter tone of the film, talked about defining the DC Universe, and promised a grand scale epic film.

Although a number of fans believe Joss Whedon’s reshoots were designed to lighten the tone of the film, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot claim that the change of tone was always the plan for Justice League. Ezra Miller, who portrays Barry Allen/The Flash, added that Snyder had always planned for our heroes to step out from the darkness after Batman v Superman:

“The first time I ever sat in Zack’s office, he told me people were mad at him for making things too dark. […] Zack always intended for the Justice League to rise out of the darkness, and maybe even bring Batman with them. Maybe an inch.”

Justice League will introduce Steppenwolf to the DC Extended Universe when the New God arrives on earth in search of the three Mother Boxes hidden on earth. While Jason Momoa would not provide too many details on the film’s plot, he did tease the deadly consequences if Aquaman and the team fail to thwart Steppenwolf’s plan:

“They can be destructive and when the three boxes get together, it’s bad news.”

With Avengers: Infinity War set to be released in theaters next summer, fans are curious to see if Justice League will top the ensemble Marvel epic. However, Ben Affleck states that Justice League is not concerned with topping the Marvel film and explained why there is little pressure on the DCEU film to define their own cinematic universe:

“It maybe takes a bit of pressure off of this movie in terms of needing to define the DC Universe. It doesn’t feel like the whole world is riding on our shoulders so much.”

Affleck also promised a grand scale epic and visual spectacle:

“The movie’s bigger in scale than any movie I’ve been involved with in my career. It feels massive in terms of the visual elements. That’s something that Zack is really good at. That will be admired.”

10 Justice League Members Who Should Join The DCEU Next

Previous1 of 11

Justice League
The Justice League isn’t limited to the six members we saw in Zack Snyder’s film. The team has an expansive roster that features dozens of reserve characters ready to help the Justice League save the world on a moment’s notice.

With movies like the Green Lantern Corps and Shazam in the pipelines, it’s clear more heroes will be introduced to the DC Extended Universe soon. The Avengers featured a small team and it only grew as more characters were introduced into the Marvel movie universe. The Justice League is gonna need all the help it can get to fight Darkseid and keep the streets safe from lower-tier villains like Deathstroke and Joker.

Did I forget to include your favorite Justice League member? Well let me know in the comments why Fire and Firestorm are better choices.

I’m really looking forward for this movie. I just happen to run across Batman v. Superman last night and enjoyed seeing it again. While we’ll never know for sure what changes Josh Whedon brought, I’m sure he’s doing a good job putting this movie together.
