In May, Zack Snyder posted a comment on Vero that suggested his cut of Justice League did not include the Russian family seen during the final battle with Steppenwolf. Now, storyboard artist Jay Oliva has taken to Twitter to confirm that the Russian family was not featured in the original script for the DC film.
On his official Twitter account, Oliva explained the decision to set the final battle in an abandoned town was in response to criticism against Man of Steel, which featured a showdown between Superman and Zod that resulted in collateral damage many felt was excessive. Oliva also noted that the Russian family’s inclusion in the scene does not make sense considering the town was supposed to be deserted.
You can check out Oliva’s comments in the post below!
Russian family was never in the original script. In fact they made it an abandoned town because of the backlash from MoS. So a Russian family doesn’t make sense when it was supposed to be abandoned from the start.
