Justin Lin May Return To Direct ‘Fast & The Furious 9’

Fast and the Furious 9As previously reported, Universal Pictures announced that the ninth entry of the Fast and the Furious franchise has been delayed as the film is now set for release on April 10, 2020. Some new light has been shed in regards to the film’s delay.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Universal Pictures may be pushing for Justin Lin to return to the long-running street racing series to helm the Fast and Furious 9. The trades source has indicated that the film’s delay may be to accommodate Lin’s busy schedule.

Lin is, of course, no stranger to the franchise as he has spearheaded directing duties on four of the Fast and the Furious films.

The series will continue to stay busy as earlier it was announced that the Fast and Furious spin-off starring Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham is set to race into theaters in 2019  The fast-tracked development of the spin-off leaves the door open for Lin to return for the next film in the core series and to once again reunite with the film’s long-running star, Vin Diesel.
