Although excitement for Avengers: Infinity War has been through the roof, it seems that the film’s follow-up has cast a bit of a shadow over its release. Early on, The Russo Brothers teased that the official title for Avengers 4 would spoil the ending of Infinity War. Considering the films were initially developed as two parts of the Infinity War storyline, these comments have left fans wondering just where our heroes will be at the end of the first film. In an interview with IGN, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige admitted that The Russo Brothers’ comments were meant to keep the focus on Infinity War.
Feige was pretty candid as he described how the plan backfired:
“I’ve said before, it’s gotten entirely out of hand. And now will have no chance to living up to any expectations of what it’s gonna be. And it sort of backfired, if I’m honest with you, because the notion was to not talk about it so the focus was to be on [Infinity War].”
It’s certainly a frustrating situation to be put in. Most interviews promoting Infinity War have steered into the question of Avengers 4’s title in some way or another. Surely, no one expected that this epic film could be overshadowed by a movie that doesn’t even have a title yet. Still, it is doubtful that this will spell trouble for Infinity War, as it is looking at a massive opening weekend.
