Ever since 2013, when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. launched on ABC, fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe have always been curious when we might see crossovers between the shows and films. While Warner Bros. have separated their DC TV and DCEU Universes, while keeping them within the DC Multiverse, all the Marvel shows and films exist within the same cohesive universe.
Marvel TV has since 2013 expanded its television lineup, with six shows happening on Netflix, two coming to Freeform with Cloak & Dagger and New Warriors, along with The Runaways on Hulu. In a recent interview with Allocine, Feige was once again asked about any plans for TV characters popping up in the films.
Feige explained that as of right now, there are no plans to have any Marvel TV characters appearing in any of the Marvel Studios movies. He stressed that even though there aren’t any plans as of this point, never say never since it’s all in the same universe.
“Maybe someday. No plans right now. Maybe someday, but we’ve a lot of characters in the MCU and one of the things that is so special about those characters on the Netflix shows is their dynamic together. They are all combining to become The Defenders later this year and are doing their own thing.”
Last month, Feige had talked about this subject when he was asked if a movie couldn’t use a character if he/she had been first introduced on a television show. As Feige explained that wasn’t the case, he also made it clear that while they may not be plans at this moment, a crossover between the two divisions will happen at some point.
“Not necessarily. The future’s a long time. So, the truth is, I don’t really know, but there are a lot of TV shows being made, and hopefully we’ll continue to make a lot of movies. At some point, there’s going to be a crossover. Crossover, repetition, or something.”
