Jubilee is one of the X-Men‘s most popular characters. Since her debut in Uncanny X-Men #244, the character has become iconic thanks to her role in the 1990s cartoon. As far as her big screen career has gone, let’s just say its not all fireworks. Jubilee appeared in last summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, portrayed by actress Lana Condor. While many expected the character to have a rather large role, she ended up being pushed to the side in favour of older characters like James McAvoy’s Professor Xavier and Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique.
However, as we have reported, a new X-Men movie is in development, and it appears that Lawrence or Michael Fassbender will not return. The sequel is rumoured to be set in the 1990s, and will – apparently – focus more on the younger Mutants such as Tye Sheridan’s Cyclops, Sophie Turner’s Jean Grey and – hopefully – Lana Condor’s Jubilee. The actress has revealed – via her Instagram – that she might be returning to the role. While we can take this as confirmation, to avoid disappointment, just wait until she’s spotted on set with her fellow cast mates.
“I miss ya Jubilee… let’s hang out again soon. ???”

So, what do you guys make of this? I think Condor will return for the upcoming follow-up, as it would be rather silly to ignore the character considering her immense popularity. With huge actors like Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender sitting a movie out, it may be a great opportunity to show audiences what these young Mutants can do. The Apocalypse sequel is rumoured to adapt The Dark Phoenix saga, and Simon Kinberg is in the running to direct the feature.
The upcoming X-Men film has no scheduled release date, but it is set to begin shooting on June 4th.
