Variety is reporting that actress Leah Gibson has joined the cast of Marvel’s Jessica Jones.
Gibson has signed on as a series regular and will portray a character named Ingrid who has been described as a street-wise woman who has an education in nursing.
Gibson has appeared in numerous films including Watchmen, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Some of her television credits include Once Upon a Time in Wonderland, The Returned and The 100.
The actress joins Krysten Ritter as Jessica Jones, Rachael Taylor as Patricia “Trish” Walker and Carrie-Anne Moss as Jeri Hogarth. Ritter will next be seen reprising her role as Jessica Jones in Marvel’s upcoming new series, The Defenders.
Plot details for The Defenders are still under wraps but the series will follow Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Ritter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) as they put their resources together to take on a mysterious businesswoman named Alexandra, played by Sigourney Weaver. The biggest clue we have so far is that the threat the heroes face somehow revolves around the offices at Midland circle, which happens to be where Daredevil and Elektra (Elodie Yung) discovered the massive hole in the ground in season two of Daredevil.
Here is the synopsis for Marvel’s The Defenders:
Marvel’s The Defenders follows Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal – to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.
All episodes of Marvel’s The Defenders will be available to stream on Netflix starting August 18, 2017. Meanwhile, you can watch the first season of Jessica Jones on Netflix now.
10 Lingering Questions Leading Up To ‘The Defenders’
With the release of the first season of Iron Fist, all four Defenders have made their streaming debut to set up this summer’s mashup miniseries The Defenders. Each season has built on the last, building an intricate mythology with a living, breathing New York City to house it. The Hand has been introduced as a sort of evil S.H.I.E.L.D. to link Marvel’s Netflix dramas, building to the four uniting against them. Their separate investigations will bring them together in – what else – a hallway fight.
The culmination of the first phase of the Marvel/Netflix partnership has a lot of ‘splaining to do. What’s the Hand’s true objective? How will our four heroes interact together and how will the supporting casts of their shows intersect here? And perhaps most importantly, who is the Big Bad played by Sigourney Weaver?
