The Legends of Tomorrow dealt with the villainous Vandal Savage in the first season, but season two is all about dealing with the Legion of Doom that consists of Eobard Thawne a.k.a. Reverse-Flash, Damien Darhk and their newest member Malcolm Merlyn, with Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold set to join them later in some way. In the latest edition of Matt’s Inside Line on TV Line, a fan asked for some scoop on the time-traveling DC show and Matt Mitovich gave some insight on what to expect of the Legion of Doom.
According to executive producer and show-runner Marc Guggenheim, Season 2B will really be paying off the Legion of Doom arc as everything starts to come together. In addition, he spoke about what fans can look forward to with Rip Hunter’s return as he re-appeared in the mid-season finale after having been gone since the season premiere.
“The second half of the season [starting Tuesday, Jan. 24] is really paying off the Legion of Doom and what we now know is the MacGuffin of Season 2, the Spear of Destiny. Changing time is like painting with the biggest paintbrush possible; using the Spear of Destiny is like using a very, very fine-point technical pen. Arthur [Darvill] has so embraced this version of Rip. He’s obviously doing an accent, but he’s also doing a whole different performance.”
“Raiders of the Lost Art” — (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, V) (HDTV)
LOST MEMORIES — When Damien Darhk (guest star Neal McDonough) and Malcolm Merlyn (guest star John Barrowman) try to capture Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) in 1967, they create an Aberration big enough to draw the attention of the Legends. However, when the team arrives they discover that Rip has no memories of his past due to “time drift” and is just a graduate film student. After trying to convince Rip of who he was, they discover that he possesses an incredibly powerful artifact known as the Spear of Destiny, which the Legion of Doom is after. Ray (Bradon Routh) and Nate (Nick Zano) realize that the Aberration has also affected them personally making it difficult to help the team. Meanwhile, Rory (Dominic Purcell) asks Stein (Victor Garber) for help and makes him promise to keep it a secret from the team. Caity Lotz, Franz Drameh and Maisie Richardson-Sellers also star. Dermott Downs directed the episode written by Keto Shimizu & Chris Fedak (#209). Original airdate 1/24/2017.”
