‘Legends Of Tomorrow’: Maisie Richardson-Sellers Says Season 3 Feels ‘So Fresh’

Legends of Tomorrow Richardson-Sellers

Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who plays Amaya Jiwe/Vixen on Legends of Tomorrow, recently teased what we can expect from season three of the time-traveling series. The last time we saw Amaya, she had decided against returning to the JSA, choosing to stay with the Legends, all while the potential future of her family weighed on her mind.

Richardson-Sellers, in an interview with Bleeding Cool, expressed her excitement for the new season, how it “feels so fresh, almost like a new show,” and teased the upcoming antagonists.

“We go to some really fun time periods and see some really cool historical figures and characters from folklore and world renown from our history. And we’ve got a team of new supervillains that are really exciting. The playful edginess gets amplified, it’s fun and silly but there are also some very emotional moments. And having Zari join the team as a superhero from the future adds a new fresh spin on everything. It feels so fresh, almost like a new show. The same way season two felt like a new show from season one. I’m excited to see how that translates to the screen.”

As for what she’d personally like to see this season, Richardson-Sellers says that one of the historical figures she’d like to me meet will actually be appearing on the show, though she wouldn’t say who it is.

“To be honest, one of them we get to meet this season, which is really exciting for me. As for places, I’d like to explore more of the far east. We did Japan, but I think it would be amazing and it’s a part of history that I don’t know a lot about. So, I’m hoping we got back there, China or India would be great. I really just want to push it and see just how many bizarre encounters we can have. How many times we can shake the Legends around.”

Richardson-Sellers also really loved a lot of Amaya’s journey in Legends of Tomorrow’s second season, and how letting go of the JSA was a moment of “huge growth.”

“I think it was just that. Learning to let go of this very crisp, black & white view and allow herself to explore the gray and to have friendships. The JSA was much more pragmatic, ordered and about the business of being a superhero while the Legends are about having a bit of fun and supporting each other on an emotional journey. For her, getting past the need for control was a huge release. It changes everything for her. When she meets the JSA again later on, she’s no longer part of that team, they say that to her, and she has to release that to be part of the Legends. That was a huge growth for her in the season.”

It’s nice to see how much excitement Richardson-Sellers has for the third season of Legends of Tomorrow. Hopefully, Amaya will continue to grow and develop and further build relationships with the team members.

Legends of Tomorrow will be returning for its new season on Tuesday, October 10 at 9/8c.

10 Heroes We Want To See In ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Season 3

**This article contains spoilers for the Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 finale.**

The Season 2 Finale for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (check out my review if you haven’t already) certainly left things off on an interesting note. But now’s the time to look to the future. It’s time to look ahead to Season 3.

Legends showrunner Phil Klemmer recently teased new characters appearing in Season 3. That’s what’s great about this type of show is the ability to regularly swap team members in and out. It helps keep the show fresh. As Klemmer puts it, in this show, “the only thing that has to remain is the Waverider.” The DC universe is packed with awesome characters that would be perfect for an appearance in Legends and this show provides the unique opportunity to introduce DC superheroes and villains from any place and any time. Whether it be the past, as was the case with recurring characters like Jonah Hex or the Justice Society of America, or the future, as we saw with Connor Hawke in Season 1, this show can make it work. So, we thought it would be fun to take a look at some of the characters that could possibly appear on Legends of Tomorrow Season 3.

First, though, a couple of disclaimers. Some of these characters are more likely to actually appear on the show than others, but all of them could work with a little creative writing. Some of these people might have appeared in the Arrowverse before, but not on Legends of Tomorrow (for the most part). Some might make more sense in a one-off appearance while some could work as potential new season-long team members. Finally, I didn’t include any of the characters that are already appearing in the DCEU films.

So, without further adieu, here are the 10 heroes we want to see in Legends of Tomorrow Season 3. Hit the next button below to begin!
