Lionsgate Begins Screen Testing Actors For Dean Israelite’s ‘Powers Rangers’

It’s almost morphin’ time and Lionsgate has officially begun the search for it’s new Power Rangers. With the Dean Israelite film gearing up to begin production, the studio is begining screen tests for the roles of the project. Variety has learned they are currently looking at new talent to morph into their rebooted Rangers. The current actors being tested for the role of Zack aka the Black Ranger consist of Daniel Zovatto (It Follows), Ross Butler (Chasing Life) and Brian “Sene” March. Meanwhile, KJ Apa (Shortland Street), Austin Butler (The Shannara Chronicles) and Mitchell Hope (The Descendents) are testing for Jason aka The Red Ranger.

The trade has also revealed that both Naomi Scott (The Martian), Annasophia Rob (The Carrie Diares) and Stephanie Scott (Insidious: Chapter 3) are up for the role of Kimberly aka The Pink Ranger. While the studio is looking at newcomers to save the day in the reboot of the franchise, it’s very likely that they’ll look for a bigger name for the film’s antagonist but no offers have gone out at the moment. Oh, and there’s currenlty no word regarding the Putties.

Power Rangers is set to hit theaters on July 22, 2016.
