Live-Action ‘Titans’ TV Series From Greg Berlanti Coming To New DC Digital Service

Teen Titans TV TitansIt was announced today that CW DC TV producer Greg Berlanti and Akiva Goldsman are teaming up for a live-action Teen Titans television series, Titans. It will launch through a new digital platform that is specifically centered around DC properties that is debuting in 2018. It wasn’t revealed how many episodes the first season it will have.

“Titans explores one of the most popular comic book teams ever. It follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In the action-adventure series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven and others.”

The project will also be executive produced by Berlanti Productions’ Sarah Schechter and DC Films head Geoff Johns who co-wrote the pilot with Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery), and Berlanti (Arrow, DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl). A live-action Titans show was being developed at TNT a few years ago, also from Goldsman, but President Kevin Reilly decided to pass on the pilot.

Even though i dropped Supergirl and Arrow, i’m definitely going to subscribe for this and Young Justice.

  • It would be amazing if the digital service also allowed access to digital comics.

    • Darthmanwe

I’d tweet that to Johns, because he expressed that opinion about digital comics for a while.

lol dc/wb doesnt produce enough good shows or movies to have their streaming services. wont last with only the dcboro supporting it. Need to he able to get the general audience to buy it which they wont be able to do. cause their track record is utter trash. heck powerless just got cancelled lmao.. good idea. not the right time ti release it. especially with ww and jl about to be certified rotten.

Oh god let that guy away from any tv series. He’s a disastrous producer / showrunner.

    • Darthmanwe

DC can’t hear you over the money they are making from all those shows.

You do know, that with syndication and international sales, the DC TV division makes more than movies, right?

      • Axxell

That could be an indictment on the movies…

        • Darthmanwe

Well, no, because CW TV shows make more net gains that, um, ANY franchise out there annually. (Excluding toy and franchising sales like with McDonalds and such, that’s why making movies is still financially recommendable)

I don’t think you people quite understand how big TV has gotten recently, both in popularity and financial volume. There is a good reason why a show like Flash can afford to spend nearly 1.2 million per episode. A little research on internet will give you an inkling on how much TV earns these companies.
