Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy introduced audiences to many new characters including Rocket Racoon, Groot, Starlord, Gamora, the Nova Corps and their leader Centurion Nova Prime.
The Nova Corps are a space militia from the planet of Xandar and played an important role in Guardians. Like much of the film, the Nova Corps had a modern and detailed look to their outfits. Marvel Studios’ conceptual artist Andy Park released an alternative design for the outfits.
Park describe the experience working on Guardians and designing this look in particular.
“It was an amazing time trying to come up with the look & feel of this totally new franchise in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Up until this point it was all Avengers related films. This was our chance to do something different. We saw it as Marvel’s Star Wars while working on it.”
