It looks like we might be going back to Middle-Earth, the realm of Lord of the Rings once again.
Variety reports that Warner Bros. Television and the estate of author J.R.R. Tolkien are in talks with Amazon Studios about a possible series adaptation of the Lord of the Rings series. It is being reported that Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, a noted fantasy fan, is involved in the early negotiations.
Amazon is currently the front-runner in a deal that would bring a series based on the classic novels from the studio and the Tolkien estate. This comes as a reported shift in Amazon’s original programming, with a turn from the more niche series the streaming giant has been producing, towards a broader, more genre-centered slate.
The Tolkien estate and Warner Bros. have famously feuded since 2012 and settled an ongoing lawsuit earlier this year. That they are working together so quickly represents a thaw in the two companies ongoing relationship. Warner Bros. previously produced the critically lauded Lord of the Rings saga, which was helmed by Peter Jackson, in addition to The Hobbit follow-up trilogy.

Top 7 DC Animated Movies That Should Be Made Next
The DC Animated movies have always been such a treat to watch. Sure, some of them are corny, but the animation is consistently top notch. Bruce Timm set the entire DC animated block in motion back in the day, but now the department has expanded far beyond anyone’s initial expectations. There are so many amazing stories out there in the DC Universe that deserve the animated treatment. Not only are there a plethora of amazing characters fans haven’t seen animated yet, the opportunity to make a movie introduces minor fans to heroes they would have never seen otherwise.
While this is a wishlist of sorts, I’m also framing it as a realistic list for the Warner Bros. animation team. I know they only make movies they think will make them money, so I tried my best to pick stories that actually have the potential to financially succeed as an animated feature. That doesn’t mean every movie has Batman in it, but these were picked as opportunities that would please fans and producers alike. Trust me though, there are some amazing stories on this list that deserve the animation treatment right away!
