‘Luke Cage’ & ‘Iron Fist’ Return To Marvel Studios In One Month

The rights to 'Luke Cage' and 'Iron Fist' will soon be reverting back to Netflix.

Luke Cage Iron Fist Netflix Marvel Studios

Luke Cage and Iron Fist are returning to the Disney-owned Marvel Studios.

When Daredevil premiered on Netflix, the series blew everyone away and was hailed as one of the best things the Marvel Cinematic Universe produced. It was followed up with a second season as well as spin-offs starring Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Punisher. There was also a crossover series titled The Defenders. Then, almost out of the blue, Netflix began pulling the plug on its Marvel projects.

In 2018, Netflix began canceling its various Marvel television shows. This began with the cancellation of Iron Fist but was then followed up by the axing of Luke Cage. Daredevil followed soon after with both The Punisher and Jessica Jones both being canceled as well. But after two years, Marvel Studios will be allowed to use the characters again.

What went under the radar until the shows were canceled was a particular clause in the contracts Marvel Studios had with the streaming titan. It essentially said that Marvel Studios would be unable to use characters like Luke Cage and Iron Fist until two years after the cancellation of their respective shows. Now that two-year date is rapidly approaching and the rights to Luke Cage and Iron Fist will be making their way back to the Marvel Studios in October.

What do you all make of this new development? Are you glad to see that Marvel Studios will soon be getting the full rights to Luke Cage and Iron Fist back? Comment below and let us know!

Here is the synopsis for the second season of Marvel’s Luke Cage:

After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Luke Cage stars Mike Colter as the titular hero, Simone Missick as Misty Knight, Theo Rossi as Hernan Alvarez/Shades, Gabrielle Dennis as Tilda Johnson, Mustafa Shakir as John McIver/Bushmaster, and Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard/Black Mariah. The series is available on Netflix.
