Mads Mikkelsen has a busy 2016. Mikkelsen played Kaecilius in Marvel’s Doctor Strange and will be in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story in December. In Doctor Strange, Kaecilius faces off against both The Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) and Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), all in the name of doing what he thought was right.
Mikkelsen recently opened up about his take on Kaecilius and despite his character being a villain, Kaecilius has layers of complexity that skew his view of right and wrong.
“He doesn’t. He’s learned everything he could but he rejects her philosophy of being the only one who’s allowed to be as powerful as that.”
Mikkelsen did enjoy his time on set and being a part of a Marvel film.
“I think maybe the big fight with Strange, and the cape again, where he gets the cape. That was also my surreal moment of like this is mad. We’re flying around. We’re not 15 years old. We’re doing this. This is crazy.”
