Mark Hamill Meets Joker & Trickster In ‘Justice League Action’ Short

Mark Hamill Justice League ActionMark Hamill stars as Mark Hamill – and the Joker, and the Trickster, and one other character – in a particularly meta Justice League Action short.

The short sees Hamill kidnapped by the Joker and the Trickster who intend to hold him hostage to obtain a ransom from an unspecified Hollywood company. But even though Hamill is in a literal bind as he gets stuck in the backseat of a car, the actor has a trick up his sleeve that just might save his own skin…

Hamill is well-known for portraying both the Joker and the Trickster in Bruce Timm’s DCAU. He played the Clown Prince of Crime on Batman: The Animated SeriesBatman: Mask of the PhantasmSuperman: The Animated SeriesJustice League UnlimitedStatic Shock, and Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker before reprising his role for three of the four Batman: Arkham games, a Robot Chicken short, and the animated adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke. In the meantime, he has portrayed the Trickster in two televised iterations of The Flash – first with the 1990s series and later with the series made for The CW. The rescue by Swamp Thing also adds a level of further metatextuality to the situation, as Hamill portrays the character on Justice League Action more than anyone else in the show’s massive ensemble.

Justice League Action airs Saturday mornings on Cartoon Network. Mark Hamill is a part of the rotating cast for the show.

10 Characters Who Should Appear In The ‘Nightwing’ Movie

Previous1 of 11

Nightwing DCSo Michael Cera’s appearance as Dick Grayson in The LEGO Batman Movie wasn’t enough for all you Nightwing fans, huh? Well, Warner Bros. is listening and has decided to give Heroic Hollywood’s number one sidekick his own movie. The LEGO Batman Movie helmer Chris McKay has been named the director of a Nightwing movie no one saw coming. Nightwing’s place in the DC Extended Universe is up in the air. How long ago did he quit being Robin? Are he and Batman speaking right now? Why wasn’t he mentioned in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice?

While the movie will likely answer all those questions, I expect it will also serve as an introduction to a different corner of the Batman universe, similar to the upcoming Gotham City Sirens. Batman might be in it for a scene or two, but the movie will need a full supporting cast to help Nightwing appear as the kickass, sociable character he is. Bruce Wayne has got the brooding down, but former circus performer Dick Grayson knows how to have fun in a way his mentor doesn’t.
