Mark Ruffalo Thought ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Would Break The MCU

Thor Ragnarok Bruce BannerMark Ruffalo has been a fan favorite addition to the MCU ever since his first portrayal of the Hulk in The Avengers. Now, he will be appearing in Thor: Ragnarok and Ruffalo believes the film might just be the most out there thing that Marvel Studios has attempted yet.

In an interview with Collider, Ruffalo explained how he thought Thor: Ragnarok might represent a new beginning in many different ways for the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

“Do you know how many times I was like, ‘are we breaking the Marvel universe.’ We threw everything out. We started all over again with this. We threw the Thor franchise out. We threw everyone’s perception of Banner out. We threw everyone’s perception of Hulk out. We threw everyone’s perception of Thor out. And, yes, we knew what we were doing. At the same time we were like, ‘let’s just do it, and let’s go for it, and let’s do it the best and most honest and fun way that we can.’ Taika did that, and he wasn’t afraid of that… so we improvised a lot and we played… and that playfulness is really appealing on-screen.”

Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo, Tessa Thompson, Idris Elba, Karl Urban and Jeff Goldblum. You can read the synopsis for the film below:

“Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth) finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor’s quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela (Cate Blanchett) from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.”

Thor: Ragnarok hits theaters on Nov. 3.

Well, if Ragnarok is a hit, Marvel can save a lot of money on screenwriters going forward — just let the stars improvise everything, it’ll be great…
