Sony Pictures is bringing the world of Valiant Entertainment to life with their upcoming adaptation of Bloodshot. The Wrap broke the news today that Sony has a shortlist of actors that they are reaching out to for the leading role, including Mark Wahlberg, Oscar Isaac and more.
Five of those eight names on the list are Oscar Isaac (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), James McAvoy (X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse), Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler), Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Mark Wahlberg (Transformers: The Last Knight). Dave Wilson will be directing the comic book adaptation, based on a script by Arrival scribe Eric Heisserer who is also writing the screenplay for Harbinger, another Valiant property that is getting adapted.
Harbinger and Bloodshot are two of the five films that will be part of the Valiant Cinematic Universe that is being developed at Sony. According to The Wrap’s report, the film will be using inspiration from the 2012 comic run of Bloodshot.
“Brought back from the dead and infused with cutting-edge nanotechnology by private security contractor Project Rising Spirit, Bloodshot is a nearly unstoppable killing machine equipped with enhanced strength, speed, endurance, and healing. Created by Kevin VanHook, Don Perlin, and Bob Layton in 1992, Bloodshot is one of the most successful new comic book characters of the past two decades with more than 100 issues published and lifetime sales of more than 7 million copies in multiple languages around the world. After returning with a sold-out new series in 2012, Bloodshot’s latest chapter recently began with the release of Bloodshot Reborn –a new series from New York Times best-selling writer Jeff Lemire and artist Mico Suayan.”
Sony’s Bloodshot currently doesn’t have a set release date. Who would you want to see play the character out of Mark Wahlberg, James McAvoy, Jake Gyllenhaal, Nicholas Hoult and Oscar Isaac? Sound off in the comments below.

Top 10 Movie Trailers From This Summer That Will Fire You Up
Every year, an avalanche of trailers, teasers, TV spots flood the Internet, trying to grab the attention of busy and overstimulated audiences. It’s gotten to the point where now, trailers are such a commodity, that the trailers themselves have teasers. There’s a reason: trailers, when they’re good, can be an artform all their own.
I love trailers, being the guy who is always rushing his friends and family to the theater early “so we don’t miss the previews.” Every summer, I make a YouTube playlist of my favorites that acts as my own personal radio station because frankly, sometimes, I vibe more to how the trailer is cut than the music in it or, in bad cases, the movies themselves when I finally catch them on-screen. It’s gotten to the point that I imagine and dream in a trailer format, with music setting the pace for a smash-cut of scenes that I want to write or just enjoy the fantasy of.
If you love a good trailer like I love a good trailer, this list is for you. Here’s what I consider the top 10 trailers for the summer 2017. Click Next to start!
