Marvel’s ‘Cloak & Dagger’ Finds Showrunner; Delayed Until 2018

Back in April, the ABC network Freeform (f.k.a. ABC Family) announced they had picked up the Marvel drama series Cloak & Dagger straight-to-series, with no creative team or cast set at that point. However there have been very few updates on the series since then, with a few mentions in interviews here and there. But today we got two major updates, with both good and bad news.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Underground’s Joe Pokaski has joined the project as the showrunner and is currently rewriting his script. However the bad news is that this has now caused the show to get delayed till 2018.

“Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger” is an adaptation of the beloved Marvel characters whose story is aimed squarely at young adults. This live-action interracial romance follows Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart — but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging. “Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger” is a co-production of Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios.”

Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is lined for a 2018 premiere on Freeform.
