“Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger” is an adaptation of the beloved Marvel characters whose story is aimed squarely at young adults. This live-action interracial romance follows Tandy Bowen and Tyrone Johnson, two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers while falling in love. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart — but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging. “Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger” is a co-production of Marvel Television and ABC Signature Studios.
Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger stars Aubrey Joseph, Olivia Holt, Andrea Roth, Gloria Reuben, Miles Mussenden, James Saito, J.D. Evermore and Carl Lundstedt.
Marvel’s Cloak And Dagger will premiere on June 7, 2018 on Freeform.
10 Comic Book Properties Jordan Peele Should Consider Adapting
After his successful award season and win at the Oscars, Jordan Peele is one of the most sought after creators in Hollywood. The director and writer, who became only the third person in history to receive nominations for best picture, director and screenplay for his debut film, is already set to executive produce CBS’ new Twilight Zone series and has a first look deal with Universal. Peele, who started out in comedy shows like Mad TV before earning Key & Peele with long-time comedic partner Keegan-Michael Key, has a knack for tackling complex, dark material.
While he may want to focus on original ideas for a while, there are a lot of great comic book properties that Peele would have a lot of fun sinking his teeth into. Not only do DC and Marvel Comics have interesting titles he could draw inspiration from, but smaller publishers like Valiant Entertainment and Black Mask Studio are just as ripe with material ready to be adapted. Peele has what it takes to bring his inventive mind, dark sensibilities and sharp wit to every one of these projects and I hope he decides to tackle a comic book property soon!
