Deadline is reporting that Wolf Hall alum Joanne Whalley has joined the season three cast of Marvel’s Daredevil in a key role. According to the site Whalley will be playing Sister Maggie who you may remember being called at the end of the final episode of The Defenders. “Get Maggie. Tell her he’s awake.”
In the comics, Sister Maggie is the character that nurses Matt Murdock back to health in the 1980’s Born Again storyline. While there’s been no official confirmation of such, it is definitely looking like season three will be an adaptation the popular Frank Miller story.
Marvel’s head of television and Daredevil executive producer Jeph Loeb had the following to say about Whalley joining the series cast.
“We are big fans of Joanne’s work and are fortunate that someone of her caliber will be joining our already talented family.”
Series showrunner Erik Oleson added that Joanne was “a rare talent and a terrific creative collaborator. Watching her bring her role to life has the writers all pinching ourselves.”
