Marvel Taps Matthew & Ryan Firpo To Write ‘The Eternals’

Marvel EternalsThe Hollywood Reporter has revealed Matthew and Ryan Firpo have been hired to develop The Eternals script for Marvel. The duo is best known for their spec script Ruin which made the Black List in 2017.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige recently confirmed an Eternals film based on the fictional race created by Jack Kirby was in development. Marvel hopes to launch a new cosmic franchise following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

In the comics, the Eternals are a fictional evolutionary offshoot of humanity who possess superpowers and longer lifespans than normal humans. Created by the Celestials over a million years ago, the superpowered beings were the result of genetic experiments that led to the creation of two divergent races: The Eternals and The Deviants. Often defending Earth from their monstrous counterparts, the Eternals became embroiled in a civil war amongst themselves over whether or not they should conquer the other races. One faction was led by Kronos and the other by his warlike brother named Uranos, with Kronos’ side ultimately winning the conflict while Uranos and his followers were exiled.

10 Marvel & DC Villains Who Can Take Down Thanos

Previous1 of 11

Thanos Marvel DC Comics Darkseid GalactusThanos may have just taken down some of Marvel’s finest superheroes in Avengers: Infinity War, but he’s not the deadliest villain in comics. Both DC and Marvel are full of characters who are more powerful than the Mad Titan.

Admittedly, whenever Thanos is in possession of all six infinity stones he is the most powerful being in the universe, but anyone can harness that power if they successfully gather all the necessary components. If anything, Thanos is just incredibly patient and willing to wait to achieve his goals, a trait not many supervillains in DC or Marvel have. With the gauntlet, Thanos is essentially an immortal God who can snap his fingers and turn entire worlds to dust, but without it he’s just another villain who wants to rule the universe. He’s clearly a strong and terrifying guy, but if he were to face any of these villains without his Gauntlet, Thanos would be in big trouble.
