With Thor: Ragnarok hitting theaters soon and Avengers: Infinity War gearing up to change the face of the Marvel Cinematic Universe forever, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has been talking about the next four films on Marvel’s release slate and how each has its own identity.
Speaking at the Thor: Ragnarok world premiere, Feige told Comicbook.com:
“All of the next films by design have been built to be very different, to be very unique. Ragnarok, Black Panther, certainly as we get into Infinity War and even Ant-Man and the Wasp, which is nearing the end of their production period right now. All four of those movies are distinct and special and I can’t wait for people to see. Thankfully they get to see Ragnarok starting now.”
What we’ve seen of these films so far certainly seems to demonstrate Feige’s point. The trailers and other promotional material for Thor: Ragnarok have focused heavily on the film’s sense of fun that Feige has attributed to director Taika Waititi. The first trailer for Black Panther, on the other hand, has teased something that looks more like a politically-charged thriller with the potential to be Marvel’s answer to The Dark Knight. What little we’ve seen of Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp has suggested the former is set to be an epic ensemble piece on a cosmic scale, while the latter will surely revive the first Ant-Man‘s sense of humour and themes of espionage.
Let us know which Marvel movie you’re most excited to see in the comments below!
Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Cate Blanchett, Idris Elba, Jeff Goldblum, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, Mark Ruffalo, and Anthony Hopkins. Here’s the official synopsis:
Imprisoned on the other side of the universe, the mighty Thor finds himself in a deadly gladiatorial contest that pits him against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger. Thor’s quest for survival leads him in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.
The film hits theaters on November 3rd.
5 Thor Stories That Should Be Used For Future Marvel Movies
After those amazing Thor: Ragnarok trailers, everyone’s talking about Odinson. This looks like a fun movie, and it makes me excited for where they might take Thor in the future. After Avengers: Infinity War, Thor is fair game for Marvel Studios (and hopefully Taika Waititi again) to do whatever they want with him.
There are some amazing Thor stories in the Marvel catalog for them to take inspiration from. I think that’s pretty key at this point, for them to just take inspiration from these stories and not follow the plot 100 percent. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is just too different compared to the Marvel Comics line, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t some amazing stories the movies could emulate.
