Jessica Jones has become a mainstream character within Marvel. She can be seen in comics and on Netflix where she is played by Krysten Ritter. Now Jones creators Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Gaydos will be returning to Marvel and bringing their character back to the pages of comic books.
Bendis and Gaydos will be writing and drawing the project for Marvel.
The last time that Jones was seen within comics was in Spider-Man #5. She was investigating Miles Morales on behalf of his grandmother. When this new series picks up from Bendis and Gaydos, this story will not continue and audiences will find Jones in a very different situation.
Bendis opened up about what fans can expect from the first issue, he also explained that it was important to “bring the band back together” and work on this project with the original team.
“You’re going to find out about it in the first issue. We’re going to open up a book where Jessica’s world has blown up in her face. She’s at a place you’ll least expect her. You’re going to find all of her relationships have altered. And we’re slowly going to find out why. I do like writing Jessica where we have to figure out ‘why this has happened…I’ve worked with other artists on Jessica and always enjoyed it, but in my mind she never looks and feels and breathes and smells more like Jessica than when Michael draws her. Between [Michael’s art] and David Mack, who is one of my closest friends who did all the covers, that is the signature in which people think of her, of those visuals. So having them all back together and having everyone be just a little bit better at their jobs — I think Michael is a better illustrator and David is a better painter — and I have to rise to the occasion and meet them.”
