Warning: this article contains possible spoilers for Marvel’s Runaways.
With Marvel’s Runaways finally making its premiere on Hulu this past week, fans of the source material can expect plenty of twists and turns that lie ahead for the show’s superpowered group of teenagers.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Runaways star Rhenzy Feliz who portrays Alex Wilder teases whether or not the comic’s biggest plot twist of the reveal of his character being ousted as the villain will be adapted on the show:
“Alex is dealing with something different in the series than he is in the comics, so there’s a little bit of a different backstory. The series dives much deeper than the comics did, so we’re taking it a little bit slower. There’s still a lot more to be found out. I can’t tell you exactly how different and similar they are, but it isn’t extremely different. The essence is still there.”
The young actor delves into just how much of an impact Alex’s betrayal to the rest of the group is a bonafide game-changer and how it is a difficult thing for the rest of the Runaways to comprehend:
“I knew from the beginning that Alex was going to be the traitor. It became difficult, because we fell so in love with him, that it was hard to finally pull the trigger in the end.”
While much like other comic book adaptations on the big and small screen, it wouldn’t be surprising if Runaways decide to hold off or take a different path leading up to Alex’s impending treachery to now only keep the audience invested in the character but to ultimately throw off the comic’s longtime readers in building up anticipation
