A vacant directing slot has been left open on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 following the firing of writer/director James Gunn and it seems that Marvel fans are pretty set on who they’d love to see take on the role.
Fans on twitter have been debating whether or not the firing of James Gunn was the right thing to do but one thing that everyone seems to agree on is that the perfect director to replace Gunn on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi. Check out the tweets below to see fans going ga-ga for Waititi helming the trilogy ender:
Please may someone launch a petition for Taika Waititi to direct GOTG3 seeing as James Gunn is cancelled for his disgusting behaviour and empty hearted apologies (literally gobsmacked)? If not I’ll do it myself lol

Yesterday, James Gunn was fired from his directorial position on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after tweets resurfaced of the director making offensive joke years before he directed even the first Guardians of the Galaxy film. Given that the script was well into development and the film was set to shoot January 2019, what does that mean for the MCU sequel? Marvel will probably want to get a filmmaker attached as soon as possible and given Waititi’s past with Marvel, it seems that he’d be the perfect choice to tide over fans. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as it becomes available.
