The Netflix series Marvel’s Defenders has just been put in the Top 20 most binge-watched Netflix original series in the first 24 hours, an incredible feat seeing as none of the other Marvel/Netflix shows even crack the Top 20.
In fact, according to The Hollywood Reporter, The Defenders is the streaming service’s third-most watched series in its first 24-hours, under Fuller House and Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, and it comes after reports that the series was the least-watched out of the Marvel/Netflix shows.
That earlier report had commendable numbers of viewership, but reports coming directly from Netflix are a little bit more reliable. It probably helped for viewership that The Defenders had 5 less episodes than the regular Marvel/Netflix shows, so more people would be able to watch it quicker in a smaller amount of time, similar to the large numbers that other 8-episode Netflix shows have had like Stranger Things.
Netflix however is notorious for not releasing their data to the public often, so the recent data revelation is a bit sudden, and Netflix could also be lying to us just as easily. Who knows? Did you watch Marvel’s Defenders in its first 24 hours? Let us know in the comments below!
All episodes for Marvel’s Defenders are available on Netflix right now. Second seasons for Luke Cage, Iron Fist, are in production Jessica Jones, as well as Daredevil Season 3.
